These Scripture-based meditations have grown out of fifteen years experience of working holistically with individuals and groups. Visualising yourself into a Scripture passage is not new. St Ignatius Loyola (1491-1566) used the approach for creating a composition of place in his Spiritual Exercises. In this book, a number of well-known New Testament passages, with their own wealth of detail and imagery, are explored within a guided sequence of relaxation for body and mind. It is a handbook of meditation, rather than a book about meditation. These guided meditations are ideal for personal prayer days, groups of adults on retreat, prayer meetings and also for young people and school students, for whom Scripture may be a closed book, and yet who are open to try meditation.
